According to a 2010 article published in Pediatrics, more than 50 %
of babies sleep through the night by the time they reach 5 months old.
While this isn't something that you can rush, take comfort in the fact that by the time they are nine months old, 70 percent
of babies sleep through the night (meaning they sleep nonstop from the time they are put to bed until a reasonable morning hour, such as after sunrise).
In fact, you'll be encouraged to know that more than 90 percent
of babies sleep through the night (six to eight hours without waking) by three months.

And wait, why are we calling them «
sleep problems» at all when the vast majority
of babies don't «
sleep through the
night» and the vast majority
of toddlers struggle to go and stay asleep on their own?
Teaching your
baby to
sleep through the
night is one
of the hardest — and ultimately sweetest — things you'll accomplish as a parent.
However, «parents need to change their behavior... if their
baby has a problem
sleeping through the
night,» or putting himself back to
sleep after waking in the middle
of the
night.
While there's bound to be variation between
babies in how early they'll
sleep through the
night and for how long, here are some
of the problems you might have to overcome.
