Even before I made my first veggie burger, I knew that
beans would be one
of the main ingredients because the texture
of beans is perfect for making tender yet hearty
patties.
On the other hand, a black
bean patty is made up mostly
of starch and proteins that have already been cooked once.
Eggs can help mitigate this to a degree — they are a source
of raw proteins that help to bind the chopped
beans together as they cook — but they never get as firm or sticky as an entire
patty of raw meat.
This scrumptious meat - free
patty is packed with two different kinds
of beans, corn, breadcrumbs, cilantro, and a pleasing combination

This is because a black
bean burger
patty is made up
of already - cooked ingredients.
I've attempted to make
patty's out
of beans, but I would love to try that with black
beans.
For the
patties: 2 lbs ground chicken breast 1 sweet onion, peeled and grated 1/2 can black
beans 1/2 cup yellow cornmeal 2 tsp cumin 1 tsp garlic 1 chipotle pepper diced salt to taste 1 - 2 tsp For the smokey mango chipotle bacon: 1/4 cup adobo sauce from canned chipotle 1/2 cup peach mango jam, melted 2 tbsp honey 2 packages smokey bacon, cooked crisp 6 poblano peppers brushed with olive oil 3 tomatoes, sliced 12 slices
of Colby jack cheese 6 large sesame seed buns For the green chile queso: 16 ounces white American cheese, cubed 1 small can green chiles, chopped 1/4 cup pickled jalapeno juice from jar 1/4 cup chopped pickled jalapenos 1 tsp cumin 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp onion powder Preheat grill to medium heat.
SHAPE the black
bean mixture into 5
patties of equal sizes with your hands.
Pan fry the black
bean patties on both sides just to get a nice crust on them, 1 - 2 minutes per side depending on the size
of patties.
If I had to guess, I would say that I added about 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup
of oats, cashews, and coconut flour to about 1 1/2 cups
of the
bean - olive - sweet potato mixture, formed it into four
patties, about 1 - inch thick, and pan fried both sides over medium to medium - high heat for a couple
of minutes in a skillet liberally coated with non-stick spray.
The texture is very similar to most
beans and do not pack that much flavour which makes them versatile in a variety
of recipes -LCB- taco fillings, stews, soups,
patties etc. -RCB-.
The mixture
of the
patties was made
of soyrizo, chopped button mushrooms, liquid smoke, bread for texture and kidney
beans for added protein.
In addition to the cheesy sauce, the
patty is loaded with flavor from pinto
beans, green chiles, green onions, and a heaping tablespoon
of chopped garlic.
In other words, the makings
of a healthy lunch: veggie burger - like
patties, to which my various squashes and
beans would no doubt impart a hearty, packable texture.
You should be able to make about 4
patties from 1 can
of black
beans.
These savory, spicy and smoky vegan

of flour, and maybe I'm weird, but I don't want flour in my burger.
