I followed a tip from Gertie's blog for better sewing and sewed a small strip
of bias tape over the exposed cut end of the horsehair.
I tried to pin it shorter... I wasn't sure... I grumbled about unpicking
miles of bias tape....
I also made piping out of the lining print as well as used it in
place of the bias tape and used this for the strap cover and flap closure.
I found this dress a little too roomy... I tried stitching elastic to the
inside of bias tape finish on the neckline (I had to get creative as I'd trimmed the seams).
Essentially, after you draw off the lines, you sew it into a tube, then cut and you have one long, continuous
piece of bias tape.
These would be very easy to create: just a
bit of bias tape stitched by hand or machine to the surface of a dress in a looping pattern.
If you don't like to have an exposed edge inside your pouch, you could cover it with a
length of bias tape to hide the raw edge.
Sew down the bottom edge
of the bias tape, sewing the lace in place at the same time.
