What a great use for the jar full
of black sesame seeds I have lying around.
These are just standard vegan maki rolls but I love the addition of fresh lime juice with the avocado and the sprinkling
of black sesame seeds.
For this noodle bowl, I took inspiration from Heidi Swanson's Black Sesame Otsu in Super Natural Every Day, in which a blanket
of black sesame seeds is toasted until it smells heady, then pounded with a mortar and pestle and combined with some Asian pantry staples to make a thick, savory, and tangy dressing, here given a bit more punch with wasabi.
I used a mixture
of black sesame seeds and white sesame seeds to be super fancy not really..
Sprinkle edamame, cucumbers, radishes, and garnish with scallions and a sprinkle
of black sesame seeds.

I added half a cup
of black sesame seeds to the panko which gave some extra flavour to the chicken.
In the absence
of black sesame seeds, I've substituted with unhulled tan sesame seeds, which worked great as well.

My love affair with the combination
of matcha and
sesame seeds started when I made these
Black Sesame Matcha Rolls three years ago (has it really been that long?).
I especially loved their I am Whole bowl, which is made up
of mashed sweet potato, adzuki beans, sautéed kale, housemade kim chee, sea palm,
black sesame seed gomasio, teriyaki almonds, garlic tahini sauce and either local brown rice or quinoa — it tasted even better than it sounds too!
It is especially believed to nurture and restore hair strength, and is generally a great, calming whole body tonic, thanks to the overwhelming amount
of nutrients in
black sesame seeds.
Topping: Organic stone ground white corn, organic sunflower oil or organic safflower oil, organic hemp
seeds, organic brown flaxseed, organic poppy

sesame seeds, water, trace

It's quite light and fresh and yet you get all the flavors
of sesame seeds, garlic, scallions, vinegar, soy sauce,
black pepper and chili sauce and finished with crushed peanuts to add to the protein and taste
of this recipe.
In a big pan, add and mix all
of the ingredients for the sauce: 2 Tbsp soy sauce, 2 Tbsp red pepper powder, 2 Tbsp corn syrup, 2 Tbsp cooking wine, 1 tsp
sesame oil, 2 pinches
black pepper, 1 tsp minced garlic, and 1 tsp

I like to use a combination
of white and
black sesame seeds because it looks nice, but feel free to use one or the other if that's what you have on hand.
For the
black sesame paste: 65g roasted

of my own — add dried shallot,
black sesame seeds, mango, used red quinoa as well as brown rice,
black beans, shredded lettuce and chilli tofu pieces.
