My contribution to the party is a simple side dish

In this case, I would make a big batch
of the
dressing, which can easily stay good in the fridge for 3 - 4 days, I'd also recommend cooking a large batch
of brown rice (quinoa would also be great), and washing your kale and other veggies
of choice so they're ready to assemble.

Things I changed: - cut the sugar by about half, using mostly dark
brown sugar for the molasses kick - scratched the nutmeg and allspice but added about 1/3 extra
of all
of the other spices and also added nearly a tsp
of ground cardamon - replaced the veggie oil with melted leaf lard - scratched the raisins - baked it on a deep sheet for only ~ 20 minutes - just barely until firm to the touch - then cut that sheet into three layers - replaced the icing with my own 16 ounce cream cheese, 8 ounce butter, ~ 6 ounce heavy cream, ~ 5 ounce honey, 1 tsp vanilla combo - toasted the coconut before
dressing the cake.
Here's a new twist on potato salad — a warm dish
of golden -
brown potato wedges with a creamy - tangy
dressing drizzled on top.
At home, I love to macerate shallots in vinegar, to add piquancy to salad
dressings; and, in winter, I am often to be found slowly sweating onions into a
brown, sticky mass, for use in pissaladière, French onion soup and a host
of other mouth - watering dishes.
When I went looking for my photos
of my creamy balsamic miso
dressing, I looked at my notes from the recipe: tossed with
brown rice, roasted Brussels sprouts and white beans.
The
brown sugar in the
dressing gives the chicken salad recipe a touch
of sweetness and the dill adds the perfect fresh flavor.
A big bowl
of asparagus, sauteed garbanzos, chopped onions, toasted almonds, tossed with
brown rice and drizzled with a bit
of garlic - tahini
dressing.
Some
of the «sophisticated comfort food» creations I delighted in included the Deviled Eggs ($ 12) with truffle - chive vinaigrette; Iceberg Lettuce Wedge ($ 12) with bacon, tomato, and blue cheese
dressing; Prime Beef Short Rib Stroganoff ($ 35) with pappardelle noodles; and Steamed
Brown Bag Fish ($ 33.50) with farmer's market vegetables, steamed fingerlings, white wine and basil pesto.
For this showstopper
of an appetizer, the custardy yolks
of soft - cooked eggs are magically balanced with an amazing green goddess
dressing and a crunchy
brown - butter breadcrumb topping.
