After a flood several years ago, a handful
of bull sharks found themselves stranded in a lake on a golf course.
Bat Island regularly attracts large groups
of Bull Sharks, creating an adrenalin - filled dive.
However it is the possible appearance
of bull sharks that excites some divers and encourages others to slip into cages!
Shoals of Barracuda are often spotted being chased by huge Cobia, and this dive site has occasionally yielded sightings of families
of Bull Sharks as well as regular visits from Whalesharks.
In Beqa Lagoon, Aqua - Trek Beqa manage The Bistro, which attracts a wide variety of sharks, Beqa Adventure Divers have «The Arena» which attracts lots
of bull sharks, among others, and Beqa Lagoon Resort has established one called «The Cathedral» which tiger sharks visit regularly.
It is known for its great diving and large marine life, along with frequent sightings
of Bull Sharks.
On the other hand, during winter season we are blessed with the visit
of Bull Sharks... Lords of the Sea, get some adrenaline?
A: I met the founders, who are really friendly guys, dedicated to the protection of sharks in general but specifically to the population
of bull sharks at Protea Banks, an area off the coast of southern KwaZulu Natal, which receives very little other protection and is exploited by uncaring and uneducated «sport» fishermen.

bulls have not earned the sobriquet
of «land
sharks» for nothing.
There are lots
of myths about pit
bulls: that they have locking jaws, that their bite is harder and stronger than other dogs» bites, that their brains swell and cause them to «go nuts,» that they have an extra row
of teeth like
sharks, and even that they can unhinge their jaws like snakes!
The wreck has become an artificial reef for a huge variety
of marine life, including turtles, huge Queensland groupers (which grow to the size
of small cars), rays, sea snakes, whales, and even
bull sharks.
More than 200 marine species live in and around the reef, including leatherback sea turtles, moray eels, tiger and
bull sharks, unique orange grouper, bat rays and galaxies
of colorful fish.
Obviously, the island got its name from the black - tip reef
sharks that live off the northwest point
of the island, but you will also see
bull sharks and whale
sharks when you dive here too!
The
Bull shark has been the culprit
of many attacks along the Wild Coast and the KwaZulu Natal coastline.
In addition, the pristine, world - famous Pinnacles dive site, located just a few kilometers off the coast, offers a multi-colored paradise that is alive with tropical fish and marine life
of all shapes and shades including whale
sharks,
bull sharks and hammerhead
sharks.

of seeing nurse and

of the area's signature dives takes place off Playa del Carmen, where
bull sharks gather over a sand bottom at depths
of 80 feet.

It is now a cleaning station for
bull sharks and is also a shelter to impressive schools
of snapper and large grouper.
Once you have completed your brief tour
of the rock formations and are heading back up, you may be greeted by the guardians

bull sharks that come barrelling out
of the depths.
