Layla, a question about the
chair rail molding... Did you butt the bottom
of it against the top
of the wainscoting, or did you overlap the
molding to sit on the front
of the wainscoting?
Next, I'd align the top edge
of my wainscoting, or just a wide
chair rail - style trim
molding like I used in my drawing, with the small window at the end
of the room.
I left the walls below the
chair rail molding alone, and just showed what it would look like if she did some kind
of stencil (or wallpaper) on the walls above the
chair rail.
Fifth, although I know the original house would have had natural wood
molding, I would paint all
of it white; baseboards,
chair rail, paneling, doors and paint the walls a nice neutral color.
