Over the rest
of the base, I used 3 coats total
of chalk paint in «Nautical» Blue which is darker than the Plutonium
color.

painted over everything with Behr's knockoff
of the Annie Sloan
Chalk Paint (ASCP)
color Country Grey.
If you still have a little bit
of wood showing through here and there (which will happen more if you
paint a light
color on a dark piece or vice versa), pour a little
chalk paint into a plastic cup and mix in a bit
of water to thin it out.
Enamel
paints are also my favorite
paints for furniture, so if you'd like to use a quart
of one
of those instead
of the AS
Chalk Paint, try either Sherwin Williams «Dignity Blue» or Benjamin Moore's «Down Pour Blue» — both are very close
color matches.
I will say, the
paint doesn't feel as rich as some
of the already mixed
chalk type
paints, but when you want a specific
color it is a good option.

I mixed my own
chalk paint using Calcium Carbonate because I wanted a specific green

When making your own
chalk finish
paint you would use the latex
color of your choice.
To do this, take a piece
of chalk length wise and

paint, BUT when you use them in concert with each other... then you can really create some magic!

chalk paint at Lowes, they had a handful
of colors I could choose from, so I chose Woolen Stockings, because it was the closest to gray they had.
The second coat was a mix
of several APC
chalk / clay
paint colors — Surboard, Shoreline and more Peacock
Then I go home and mix up a batch
of homemade
chalk paint with it, or add a little Kilz to it to make a custom
color, all my own.
