Think about your car — you no doubt «avoid systemic
change» all the time — you check the tire
pressure, you use the right oil and
change it regularly, you keep the level
of brake fluid above the bottom
of the reservoir so no
air bubble gets
in, you keep the cap on the brake reservoir so no moisture contaminates the fluid.
Meteorological scientists warn that the
changes in heat composition and
air pressure over the Tibetan Plateau may have implications beyond Asia's river basins, as shifting dynamics
of the atmospheric circulatory system over the plateau could
change wind and monsoon patterns across much
of the world.

A recent National Wind Coordinating Committee (NWCC) review

The rains, at least meteorologically speaking, were not unexpected; the combination

air mass fed by high sea surface temperatures, and record humidity —

In just 16 pages, this wonderful book covers the structure
of the atmosphere, solar radiation, the water cycle, clouds, fronts, convection,
air pressure,
air masses, the global atmospheric circulation, making weather observations, forecasting, synoptic charts, hurricanes, regional climate, palaeoclimates and anthropogenic climate

Water vapor and clouds, on the other hand, are highly active components
of the climate system that re-spond rapidly to
changes in temperature and

1) Start by computing the total GHG - free
air constant mass per unit area
of a gas layer between any two heights under gravity g 2) Add

pressure change with height

of the layer realizing the layer possesses potential energy per unit area
in earth's gravity field 4) From that, realize energy conservation imposes a constraint that total dry static energy is constant
in the layer (within adiabatic control volume) 5) From this, realize and compute the total entropy (S)
of the layer over the height
of the layer 6) Transform S computation from height to
pressure by way
of hydrostatic eqn.
The temperature
of air is cooler at elevation
in response to the vertical
pressure changes that happen to occur because
of the Earth's gravity.»
Though there can be significant differences
in regional surface impacts between one SSW event and another, the typical pattern includes
changes in sea level
pressure resembling the negative phase
of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) / Arctic Oscillation (AO), (representing a southward shift
in the Atlantic storm track), wetter than average conditions for much
of Europe, cold
air outbreaks throughout the mid-latitudes, and warmer than average conditions
in eastern Canada and subtropical Asia (see figure below, left panel).
My impression is that it is the area
of the cloud free subtropical high
pressure cells
of descending
air that is a strong variable factor explaining the
change in the temperature
of the
in - feed waters that become the westerly currents that occupy the tropical latitudes.
Ozone absorbs energy
in UV frequencies and warms
changing the density
of the
air column and sea level
pressure beneath the column.
The normal way
of considering the role
of adiabatic condensation
in ascending
air and how that's related to
pressure and temperature
changes goes essentially as follows:
The low pass frequency filtering due to the century long compaction time
of the snow crystals
in the firn and the effects
of the
pressure on the
air inclusions (both during the closing
of air - paths
in the firn and during the withdrawal
of the ice core) significantly
change the amplitude and phase
of the CO2 content
of the ice core with respect to the isotopic content
of the surrounding ice.
Thus a parcel
of air into which water vapour is injected will rise without any
change in ambient temperature.The reduction
of density from surface upwards is what initially reduces
air pressure as measured from the surface.
Since liquid water weighs the same as the water vapor it condensed from, there is no
change in the weight
of the column
of atmosphere above our parcel
of air, whence the
pressure remains unchanged, although the parcel may
change (very slowly)
in volume.
The above points describe essentially similar
changes as the paper discusses
in chapter 2 except for one essential difference: The only source
of pressure drop is the ascending movement
of air not to the condensation
of water.
As to the mechanics
of both top down solar and bottom up oceanic influences on the surface
air pressure distribution (and thus the movements
of the climate zones) I have dealt with that
in detail elsewhere so here suffice it to say that all climate
change is simply the surface
air pressure distribution shifting to accommodate those three primary solar and oceanic cycles.
That does several things, it allows me to assume a linear gradient
of water vapor
pressure from top to bottom at steady state (I think), prevents the water from boiling and allows me to adjust the magnitude
of the diffusion coefficient
of water vapor
in air by
changing the
air pressure so I can get the result I want.
In the real world one can influence the rate
of evaporation either by reducing
pressure or by increasing the energy content
of the water (amongst other ways such as increased
air movement and humidity
changes).
Ideal gas which has no mass therefore no weight under gravity because there is nothing on which gravity can pull; which has no volume therefore does not expand or condense
changing its weight under reduced and increased
pressure or heat and cold and so does not become lighter or heavier than
air under gravity; with no attraction therefore merely capable
of bouncing off another and not capable
of undergoing chemical
changes, such as water and carbon dioxide
in the atmosphere forming carbonic acid.
«Working with data pertaining to 7450 cardiovascular - related deaths that occurred within Budapest, Hungary, between 1995 and 2004 — where the deceased were «medico - legally autopsied» — Toro et al. looked for potential relationships between daily maximum, minimum and mean temperature,
air humidity,
air pressure, wind speed, global radiation and daily numbers
of the heart - related deaths... scientists report and restate their primary finding numerous times throughout their paper, writing that (1) «both the maximum and the minimum daily temperatures tend to be lower when more death cases occur
in a day,» (2) «on the days with four or more death cases, the daily maximum and minimum temperatures tend to be lower than on days without any cardiovascular death events,» (3) «the largest frequency
of cardiovascular death cases was detected
in cold and cooling weather conditions,» (4) «we found a significant negative relationship between temperature and cardiovascular mortality,» (5) «the analysis
of 6 - hour
change of air pressure suggests that more acute or chronic vascular death cases occur during increasing
air pressure conditions (implying cold weather fronts),» (6) «we found a high frequency
of cardiovascular death
in cold weather,» (7) «a significant negative relationship was detected between daily maximum [and] minimum temperature [s] and the number
of sudden cardiovascular death cases,» and (8) «a significant negative correlation was detected between daily mean temperature and cardiovascular mortality.»
