As an bonus, I already had a half dozen cans
of chickpeas on my list (another vegan blog blew my mind at the idea of vegan pavlova / meringue using the brine out of the cans) so between making a this spicy beauty and a lemon & passionfruit pavlova for dessert, once the cans go into the recycling I'll have manage zero waste!
You can roast the whole branch
of chickpeas on the barbecue, you can also cook like a vegetable.

of chickpeas on hand, as well as some frozen that I cooked from dried.

chickpeas, drained 1 (14 - ounce) can diced tomatoes, with juices Pinch saffron threads (optional) 1/2 preserved lemon, finely chopped 1 cup brined green olives (Aida recommended Cerignola) Steamed couscous, for serving (directions here and elsewhere
on the web) Fresh cilantro leaves, roughly chopped, for garnish Toasted slivered almonds, for garnish Plain yogurt, for garnish Hot sauce
of your choice (for serving)
To assemble, layer the sliced zucchini
on top
of the raw flatbread, then add the
chickpea filling, roll up gently and enjoy!
I used 9 tbsp
of liquid from a can
of chickpeas to replace 3 egg whites as I am vegan and it came out v well (this is an amazing trend I have recently caught
on to, it even makes great meringues!).
Among things I change
on occasion are: — Olive oil instead
of coconut oil — Honey instead
of maple syrup — Replacing some
of the flour with
chickpea flour — I never tried the millet actually but have instead always added pumpkin seeds which complement the babana marvelously — I always cut down
on the sugar in half (I generally do so in recipes) and I dislike cloves so no.

My brother and I made it more or less to the original as part
of a Middle Eastern feast, but I switched the
chickpeas for lentils in this incarnation, as they are gentler
on my stomach.
No, these potatoes don't make themselves, and they do take a bit
of pre-planning (I baked the potatoes before mixing with other ingredients (which means I had to remember that everyone's going to want to eat before they want to eat) and, since I wanted these to be weight - loss - friendly, I used this Creamy Italian Dressing (which takes about 5 minutes longer than opening a bottle
of store - bought (but really didn't take any extra time because I had some
on hand in my frig (which, thankfully, is the norm — we almost always have some in our frig because we eat it
on nearly everything (salad, broccoli, rice, cabbage, bread, potatoes, and more) and it gets used in lots
of recipes (like Garbanzo Pesto Salad and
Chickpea Salad Sandwich)-RRB--RRB--RRB--RRB-.
I have a recipe for falafels here
on the blog, but instead
of using fava beans I've been using
chickpeas because they're easier to find in these here parts.
I wanted to test a vegan version
of these
chickpea veggie fritters and asked Instagram for tips
on cooking with flax eggs and got so many helpful responses.
Currently, it's this
chickpea salad sandwich from Olives for Dinner
on Ezekiel bread with lettuce and tomato, accompanied by a side
of roasted brussels sprouts.
Place a generous dollop
