Director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) pops some eyes with a thrilling sequence depicting Judah's escape from slavery during a shipwreck, while the chariot duel itself becomes a CGI-fest
of choppy editing and hurried frames.
And, frustratingly, most action sequences fall victim to this plague
of choppy editing which seems to have permanently bonded with Hollywood DNA.
But that might account for
some of the choppy editing early on.

The
editing is always
choppy and horrible, the music is poorly placed, the acting seems to be straight out
of a junior high play, and nothing seems believable.
V for Vendetta is a dud - far too long at nearly two and a half hours, with flat, grungy visuals,

And this film is already a lock to win the Worst
Editing of the Year award because I can't imagine another movie over the next 5 + months that's as
choppy and sloppy.
These films are flashy but rarely let the
editing get too
choppy, lest we miss some
of the effects - laden visuals.
The
editing of these scenes is a bit
choppy to near incoherence, and though the film tries, it doesn't keep up the snarky zip that we're accustomed to from a Shane Black film over the years.
For much
of the early going, he seems to be there mainly to break up the narrative monotony, though this also results in a messier,
