Intuitive Eating is an approach developed to help people heal from the side effects
of chronic dieting.
But when you have a history
of chronic dieting or rigid «healthy» rules about eating, it's quite difficult, because a number of things need to be in place, including the ability to trust yourself!

Reasons for inadequate intake include poorly balanced vegetarian diets,
chronic fad or crash
dieting and having limited access to a wide range
of fresh foods.

Additionally, D2 also has an opposite response from that

However, using intuitive eating in private practice has become more popular with hopes
of ending
chronic dieting and helping clients build a more positive relationship with food and their bodies.
The problem is that the conversion
of T4 (the storage hormone) to T3 (the active hormone) can be reduced in anyone with significant stress, depression, history
of dieting, insulin resistance, obesity, diabetes,
chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, autoimmune disease,
chronic inflammation,
chronic infections, PMS, iron deficiency, and many more conditions.
With
chronic dieting, the thyroid levels and metabolism often do not return to normal levels; the body stays in starvation mode for years with significantly reduced metabolism despite the resumption
of normal food intake, making it very difficult to lose or maintain lost weight (48).
The specific conditions that may lead to refeeding syndrome are not well defined, but
chronic dieting and definitely periods
of fasting beyond a day or two are significant concerns.
The numbers tell the story, and it's a way to live in a natural, fed mode
of being, rather than an unnatural, simulated starvation mode in
chronic VLC or ketogenic fad
dieting, typing LOLS with their fingers!
No longer depriving myself

Chronic dieting is when, over a period

chronic dieting or stress, the body often stays in this «starvation mode» with elevated levels
of reverse T3 and decreased levels
of T3, which is a major reason for the regaining
of lost weight with
dieting as well being the mechanism behind stress induced weight gain (it is not due to increased cortisol).
T4 can convert to T3 and at times
of stress (whether from everyday life stress, trauma,
chronic dieting, environmental toxins, ongoing low grade infections or a side effect from certain medications) T4 converts to Reverse T3.
Given this information, we may be able to conclude that emotional eaters who stop
dieting and / or feeling guilty about what they eat may naturally start to develop a wide range
of coping mechanisms outside
of food, while
chronic dieters will not.
The most common types
of eating disorders are anorexia, bulimia, binging and purging, and
chronic dieting (someone who consistently diets regardless
of how much he or she weighs).
