status of civic education points to a startling lack of understanding, among adults and youth alike, about the nuts and bolts of government.
For the past half - century, political scientists have been seeking to answer some basic questions about the
nature of civic education.

sort of civic education is necessary to sustain our liberal democratic regime and the freedoms it enables us to enjoy?
