of coconut bacon I have but I need to try this out!
I'm a huge fan
of coconut bacon, but you can't get nice long strips like you do here.
Never heard
of coconut bacon, thanks for introducing them to me.
Of course, I had my nifty helper, Trevor there for some prep and to take care
of the coconut bacon for me.
Top with tomatoes, lettuce, a generous handful
of the coconut bacon, and thin slices of avocado.
Not exact matches
When you cook with
coconut milk it takes away most
of that
coconut flavor, plus the garlic and
bacon help even more.
You can use expeller pressed
coconut oil and / or
bacon grease as well — any combination
of these 3 fats works great, and you can reuse the fat — just strain it after you make the carnitas and store it in the fridge.
Recipes evolve, and I thought I'd share the updated version I've been making lately - very similar concept adding a blend
of coconut «
bacon», and crumbled tempeh seasoned and baked alongside the
coconut.
So I made some steaks that afternoon and while I waited for the
bacon wrapped steaks to cook, I ate a tablespoon (disclaimer: amounts are approximate)
of coconut butter while I waited for the steak then went on to eat a can
of artichoke hearts.

So I make my
coconut «
bacon» and add a good amount
of crumbled tempeh - a 50 / 50 - ish mix.
Made this again and didn't have sweet potato flour so I used 1/4 cup hazelnut flour and 2 heaping spoonfuls
of coconut flour and egg and 8 oz
bacon for the crust.
Coconut bacon: That crispy, crunchy, perfect cheery on top
of our pasta dish.
Just before serving, sprinkle the
coconut bacon on top
of the salad to prevent it from getting soggy.
In the same frying pan, add some odorless
coconut oil and fry some pieces
of the «I SEA
BACON», it will turn from black into greenish and then it's ready and crunchy.
And I just opened the bag today, before sprinkling it onto a pan to make
coconut bacon, so there was no possibility
of cross contamination here.
But when it's all put together with it's traditional porky partners: tomato and lettuce, good bread and some Vegan mayo, it's not bad at all I dumped all
of the
coconut and marinade in a hot iron skillet and stirred it around for a good 10 minutes until it looked like
bacon.
Additionally, here is a general list
of basic condiments often served with curries worldwide: fried eggplant, tamarind jam, candied
coconut, candied ginger, pickled vegetables (such as onions), mango chutney, grated fresh
coconut, grated roasted
coconut, chopped peanuts or almonds, grated or slice hard - boiled eggs, chopped crisp
bacon, chopped tomatoes, and salted fish.
(JUST KIDDING, kind
of) Baked, scooped, mashed and baked again; then drizzled with a savory queso sauce, topped with crunchy
coconut bacon and some fresh pico de gallo.
2 tbsp
of lard,
coconut oil, or tallow 2 medium onions, chopped 3 slices
of bacon, chopped (optional) 4 garlic cloves, minced 1 pound
of ground meat, I used organic ground chicken 1 teaspoon ground coriander 2 - 3 teaspoons ground cumin 1 tsp
of smoked paprika 3 cups
of crushed tomatoes or plain roasted tomatoes, if using my homemade recipe, avoid the spices 3 cups
of chopped vegetables.
12 medium scallops 6 slices
of sugar - free, nitrate - free
bacon, cut in half 3 tbsp
of melted
coconut oil, butter or ghee 1 tbsp
of fresh minced garlic 1 tsp
of Dijon mustard 1/2 tsp
of smoked paprika Salt and pepper to taste
Try to vary your types
of fat, some pastured butter (like Kerrygold) or ghee, some
coconut oil, some avocado, some olive oil, some walnut oil, some tallow, some lard, some duck fat, some
bacon (count 3 strips
of bacon as = 1 TBS.

Homemade
coconut bacon with smoked paprika and maple syrup is the star
of these piled - high sandwiches.
I've always made it with the
coconut oil, which seems to add a bit
of sweetness... I'm considering using
bacon fat tonight instead, but I'm not sure I want to mess with a sure thing!

A typical full day
of eating for me looks like: Breakfast: Spinach, Mushroom, Onion and Tomato Frittata... sometimes with
bacon or homemade sausage Iced Coffee with
coconut milk Lunch (this is usually my largest meal
of the day): 4 - 5 ounces
of protein (turkey burger, pulled pork, chicken thighs, ground buffalo), roasted veggies and sometimes a sweet potato or butternut squash Snack: apple with almond butter or a handful
of macadamia nuts Dinner: A large salad with all kinds
of raw veggies (cucumber, celery, carrots, cauliflower), avocado or olives, usually a lighter protein like grilled chicken breast, salmon or shrimp This would represent a full menu... I would say I hit this about 4 - 5 days a week, other days I may omit the snack or keep the snack and omit a meal, if i do that though I would add a bit
of protein with it.
A mix
of tender maple roasted Brussels sprouts and butternut squash are topped with crunchy pecans and
coconut bacon to make this flavorful vegan side dish!This was a very carefully planned out recipe.

-- 2 tbsp sugar — 1 tsp baking powder — 1 cup gluten free plain flour — 1/2 tsp salt — 1 egg — 1 1/4 cups lactose free milk — 2 tablespoons melted butter /
coconut oil — 8 slices
of bacon, trimmed — maple syrup, to serve
Either keep it dairy (with the cheese) and skip the meat and use butter or
coconut oil instead
of the
bacon fat; or you could make it meat and eliminate the cheese but add a larger amount
of turkey
bacon and use either beef drippings, schmaltz, or
coconut oil; or you could make the recipe pareve by skipping both the cheese and the meat and using just
coconut or olive oil and some chopped, cooked veggies like cauliflower or broccoli, or even some salmon if you like.
All
of us have tried
bacon from meat, but try this,
bacon from
coconut!
I explained that
coconut flour is naturally easier on your blood sugar, and then we have lots
of good saturated fat — cheese,
bacon,
bacon grease, and eggs — to smooth out your blood sugar even more.
I save the
bacon fat, and cook the pancakes in a mixture
of bacon fat and
coconut oil.
Coconut Aminos — This will give the tempeh the perfect golden color and the salty taste
of traditional
bacon.
Large flakes
of unsweetened
coconut are the perfect canvas to infuse the smoky - sweet flavor associated with
bacon.
