The goal in stripping your diapers is to get ALL residues out —
detergent, urine, etc. —
so if you haven't been using enough
detergent in your usual wash routine, you're going to start off with two hot wash rounds with a full cap
of detergent in each one, followed by several hot washes and rinses until all the bubbles are gone.
I have to say that when I saw the title
of the post I thought it was going to be an aggressive anti-Tide rant,
so thank you for proving me wrong:) I'm one
of those people who uses mainstream
detergents on my diapers and won't hesitate to share what has worked for me with others who ask.
If you don't like chlorine bleach like Clorox, add a double scoop
of OxyClean to the initial wash — it's considered an enzyme booster,
so if you're using an enzyme based
detergent like Persil you'll notice the best results.
Ever since my stink and ammonia issues with my diapers, I did a lot
of research on laundry and how
detergents work, and how to properly clean waste, disinfect, prevent ammonia, etc, and it was
so enlightening and changed my whole outlook.
Being only one layer thick your
detergent does not have to make its way
so deep into many layers
of an insert to get the muck out.
We don't use fabric softeners on any
of our laundry,
so it only means that the
detergent is the cause
of the problem.
