Is Dead Rising a zombie game, or a GTA-esque, sandbox - style beat «em up with wall - to - wall undead, or a mash up of
dozens of different gameplay styles that are more than the sum of their parts?
Beyond Good & Evil, or BG&E, is a 3rd person action adventure game and is a melting
pot of different gameplay styles, a jack of all master of none if you will, offering combat, platforming, puzzles and stealth through its adventure while providing a charming world and characters to interact with.
Its breezy gameplay keeps it accessible to a fault, but its insistence on including a
jumble of different gameplay styles damages what may have been remembered as a decent platformer.
There are a
lot of different gameplay styles which range from indoor track - based courses (which remind me a lot of Supercross) to A-B races which take you through some well - designed areas, yet it feels there is something missing when you compare the game to other arcade racers such as DIRT 4 or Driveclub.
They have a wealth of experience now and know how to make a
variety of different gameplay styles in an open world so taking this and putting their own ideas too it may well be the next step for them.
