of a
dog, potential
adopters instead can read about the
dog's personality and «Pawgwarts» house, and decide if they're a good fit.
The Humane Society
of Tulsa is one
of 60 shelters that participate in the PetSmart Charities Rescue Waggin» program — a national transport program that transfers adoptable
dogs and puppies from animal shelters in communities with severe pet overpopulation problems and few
adopters to animal shelters in other communities where adoptable
dogs and puppies are more in demand.
The organizers want to remind
adopters that for the best outcome, «you need to have all members
of the family present to meet prospective
dogs prior to adoption so we can make sure the kids and the
dogs are comfortable with each other.»
The
adopter and her husband looked for five months, but most
of the
dogs they saw were Labs who would very likely be taken by other homes.
