This virus, belonging to the influenza A family, is a mutated strain
of an equine influenza virus that has been detected in horses for more than 40 years.
H3N8 was first discovered in Florida in 2004 and is

of equine influenza virus to dogs,» was posted online in the Sept. 26 issue of Science Express Reports, a part of Science magazine.
H3N8 was first seen in the US in an outbreak between 2003 - 2005 and is believed to originate from a mutation
