This consequently suggested that the Last Common Eukaryotic Ancestor (LECA) contained the ancestor
of all mitochondria and derived mitochondria and, assuming that true Archezoa have never existed, the acquisition
of the mitochondrial ancestor triggered
eukaryogenesis.
