of charter cap:

charter school rally, defended the students» attendance.
A diverse coalition
of charter advocates rallied at City Hall on Friday to raise the cap, including several small independent
charter operators who don't usually ally themselves with larger organizations, such as Families for
Excellent Schools.
Pro-charter group Families for
Excellent Schools has released a series
of reports over the past several months trying to combat the claim that
charters under - enroll special needs students, though the city has called the data misleading.
In lieu
of the massive rallies it has held biannually since 2013, the
charter school advocacy group Families for
Excellent Schools will hold a modest lobby day on Jan. 20 in Albany.
Also at 11 a.m.,
charter school parents, organized by Families for
Excellent Schools, will gather on the steps
of City Hall and demand that de Blasio apologize for insulting
charter school students» achievement on 2016 state exams, Manhattan.
The top
of the tally featured three education groups: the pro-tax credit Invest in Education Coalition, labor union New York State United Teachers, and
charter school advocates Families for
Excellent Schools.

The march was intended by its organizers, the reform group Families for
Excellent Schools, as a celebration
of a decade
of relatively free rein under the Bloomberg administration, and as a warning to the prospective Blasio administration that the
