explanatory factors for this major decline in aerial insect biomass in the investigated protected areas.»
The statistical analyses (Table FE3) indicated that: (1) there are statistically significant differences in carbon dioxide emission
factors across both coal rank and State
of origin; (2) coal rank and State
of origin each explain approximately 80 percent
of the variation in carbon dioxide emission
factors; and (3) State
of origin combined with coal rank is a slightly more powerful
explanatory variable than either coal rank or State
of origin alone.

With regard to mechanisms, McLanahan and Sandefur found that income was an important
explanatory factor for the poorer outcomes

Fragile families and child cognitive development Several FFCWS studies have specifically focused on the effects

of stability as an
explanatory factor.
Further, existing research about mental health has rarely included a broad range
of explanatory variables and no studies to date have included assessment
of the mental health
of carers, a
factor that has been found in non-Aboriginal populations to be

The law itself and the accompanying
Explanatory Memorandum to the Bill provide no guidance on what
factors may justify an order setting aside the rules
of evidence.
Our findings suggest that despite cross-national variation in distributions
of demographic and socio - economic characteristics, labor force participation
of women
of different ages, as well as formal childcare usage, are key
explanatory factors for national variations in intensive grandparental childcare.
Although most cognitive studies focus on clinically low birthweight groups, confirmation
of this association across the full birthweight range in the normal population is
of particular interest, since this would imply that
explanatory factors are similarly distributed in the general population.
Candidate
explanatory factors explained just over half the gradients, with family background
factors explaining 8 % to 13 %, health
factors 4 % to 6 %, home learning environment 18 %, parenting style / beliefs 14 % to 15 %, and early education 6 % to 7 %
of the gaps between the lowest versus highest quintiles in reading and math.
This study represents one
of the more comprehensive investigations
of candidate
explanatory factors, yet our analyses explained just over half
of the gaps between the highest and lowest, and lowest and middle, SES quintiles with regard to early reading and math scores, suggesting that many additional
factors are involved.
Neither the 1998 amending legislation nor the accompanying secondary materials such as the

For decades, many investigators have regarded the
explanatory power
of one
of these two «main effects» perspectives as dominant over the other.11 An aim for this project is to move beyond «main effects» perspectives by utilizing a child by environment model in which risk / protective

of the raw gaps explained by each candidate
explanatory factor and each domain
of factors.2 This was done by taking the product
of the mean gap in each
explanatory factor (mean difference between Q1 — Q5 and Q1 — Q3) by the β coefficients from linear regression models that predict reading and math ability from SES and all candidate
explanatory factors.

explanatory factors may derive from characteristics typical
of separating parents such as lower relationship satisfaction and higher conflict levels also before the separation.4 The rising numbers
of children with JPC have concerned child clinicians as well as researchers on the subject.20, 21 Child experts have worried about children's potential feelings
of alienation from living in two separate worlds, 20 — 22 increased exposure to parental conflict12, 22 and other stressors that JPC may impose on a child.22 Such daily stressors may be long distances to school, friends and leisure activities, lack
of stability in parenting and home environment and a need to adjust to the demands
of two different family lives.12, 22 The logistics
of travelling between their homes and keeping in contact with friends has been stated as a drawback
