Fabric Softener Sheets — Although we do not recommend the use
of Fabric Softener sheets in the dryer when drying diapers (or for clothes, for that matter)... if you lay one of these on top of your diapers, it can help ward off strong smells.
Occasionally you will find that too much detergent or the accidental
use of fabric softener sheets can cause excessive odor or repelling.
Those of you who know exactly when your neighbors are doing their laundry due to the odor
of fabric softener wafting down the street now know to close your windows and screens during that time to keep these toxic emissions from entering your home!
When you use a scent - free laundry detergent and avoid the chemical
fragrance of fabric softeners and dryer sheets, you end up with laundry that doesn't smell like anything.
This is precisely why so many parents are interested in baby fabric softener, since the
point of fabric softener is obviously to soften clothes and make them feel less rough.
Unfortunately, the
majority of fabric softener products tend to use somewhat harsh chemicals that could potentially irritate or inflame a young child's skin.
(Here's a neat tip if you'd like to get the toxic
reek of fabric softener or other perfumes out of your clothes: put the item in a bag with activated charcoal for as long as necessary.
Also, the type of detergent you use along with the
type of fabric softener you use will also affect how much pet hair will stick to certain fabrics.

The sickly sweet floral
scent of fabric softener used by the previous owners was so strong that I had to rewash the clothing multiple times before I felt safe using it to dress my son!

Joy — I don't know where the soap goes in a front loader but if there is a way to get a liquid fabric softener into them, I'd use a mix of vinegar and tea tree oil in that bit instead
of fabric softener.
On top of them I place a sheet
of fabric softener or perfumed soap bars.
Then I put the remaining clothes into the container, top them with another sheet
of fabric softener and put on the lid.
It reminds
me of fabric softener.
It's organic, biodegradable, free from all detergents, non-polluting, and does not require the use
of fabric softeners or anti-static.
Why do we recommend adding a cup of vinegar to the wash instead
of fabric softeners?
