That's why we ask you to enter both the the total air miles traveled AND the
number of flight segments these air miles represent.
To earn elite status, you will need to reach the new EQD threshold and one of the following: (1) an EQM threshold based on distance flown or (2) an EQS threshold based on the number
of flight segments flown.
This example itinerary in business class includes only five stopovers (ITA has an upper limit on the number
of flight segments) and travels a total distance of 21,556 miles.
Travelers can reach elite status by earning a certain number of miles or completing a set number
of flight segments.
All of the flight segments were on flights that earned miles with Alaska Airlines, my frequent flyer program of choice.
