I'm really happy to share your story here, and in doing a little research it was interesting to find that more people than you'd think have varying degrees
of food aversions and phobias.
After nine months
of food aversions & sickness (yes, I'm a lucky one!)

I'm long over most
of my food aversions (except for raisins and shredded coconut), and I now see leftovers through my mother's eyes: they're a blessing.

Those who know me know I get

food aversions are the obvious, but there are some odd symptoms that you might not expect to be an early sign
of pregnancy.
Cravings and

of course, but in the first trimester you're more likely to have
food aversions - where you go off certain

It's understandable when your usual symptoms
of pregnancy — sore breasts, nausea, and maybe some
food aversions — begin to vanish, and you wonder if this indicates you are having a miscarriage.
It's a common sign during the first trimester, often accompanied by other early pregnancy symptoms like nausea, lack
of appetite, cravings or
aversions for certain
foods and an increased sensitivity towards some smells.
We have several friends who's children suffer from severe
food allergies, and our own daughters have environmental allergies, not to mention that we recently had an allergy blood test performed on Lil» C that came back very borderline for peanut / milk allergy (which she has
food aversions to anyway) and we know that certain bug bites / stings are severe reactions for Miss A, swelling to the size
of baseballs or bigger and have medicine for her reactions.
Such as during early pregnancy when nausea and
food aversions are common, or early postpartum when the new demands
of motherhood may cause a woman to turn to poorer quality convenience
foods.
The first 3 months
of pregnancy, when
food aversions tend to happen, is also the time when the baby is in the most vulnerable stage
of growth.
About half
of all expectant mothers end up with one or more
food aversions.
More than 60 %
of pregnant women experience
food cravings, and more than half have
food aversions, according to research.
In fact, according to study published in the US National Library
of Medicine National Institutes
of Health, both nausea and
food aversions will begin at the same time in pregnancy for the majority
of women.
Though
food aversions do not usually appear until week five
of pregnancy, some women have reported strange cravings within days
of conception.
«
Food aversions are most often associated with early pregnancy — when they are likely to touch off a bout
of morning sickness — with nausea and vomiting,» says Rebarber.
Some
of the other symptoms you may experience at this time include
food cravings or
aversions, mood swings and irritability.

So let's recap: expectant mothers
of multiples have lots more nutrients to get with a moderate amount
of extra calories to get them with; we need loads more protein, but we're craving only carbs; the list
of foods we can actually eat is shorter than ever due to
food aversions and
food safety considerations, but our energy to plan and execute appropriate meals is limited.
But parents
of some babies with severe oral
aversion (unwillingness to eat) find that they have more success with thinly pureed
foods.
Some women develop
aversions to certain types
of food as well, and this too can last throughout your pregnancy.
Food Cravings or
Aversions: This symptom might be attributed to poor diet, lack
of nutrients, stress, depression, anxiety, certain illnesses, or pending menstruation.
I'm not blaming mom — they are often caused by illness in the first months
of life, leading to an
aversion to
food.
The first trimester was difficult for me, I was tired all
of the time, I had
food aversions and I also had morning sickness.
Your extra-sensitive nose may be responsible for another early sign
of pregnancy:
food aversions, where the thought, sight or smell
of certain
foods you normally like turns your stomach (or worse, contributes to your morning sickness).
Regardless
of why they occur,
food aversions can be tricky — especially when mealtime rolls around and you find yourself staring at an open fridge and can't find anything you'd like to eat.
Very intense
food aversions are also one
of the early signs
of pregnancy, when the levels
of your hormone beta - hCG are on the rise.

Aversion to cheese (responses from 0 to 1 on a scale
of 11 includes the highest population
of individuals among those with
food aversions.
The researchers then observed that the ventral pallidum, a small structure usually activated in people who are hungry, was totally inactive while the smell and image
of cheese was being presented to individuals with an
aversion to cheese, whereas it was activated for all other
food types.
Three out
of every four (73 percent) patients noted that they had developed an
aversion to specific
foods after the surgery.
