The iPad like screen in front
of the gear lever is new, but it's easily within reach of a driver or passenger.
Sure, the engine note may sound a little flat next to the three - pot rumble of the Cooper, but there's still a lot of character to be had, especially with the exhaust pops on upshifts and on the overrun that come when you flick the rotary switch at the base
of the gear lever to select Sport mode.
Furthermore, there is a media centre for connecting devices in front
of the gear lever.
It is supposed to be adjustable and allows charging via USB (unsure whether there's a cable provided in there, or you have to route it from in front

Though the gear lever is ergonomic once you get used to it, many will not like the placement
of the gear lever and the old style pull and twist handbrake.
You'll also find plenty of smaller storage areas for items such as smartphones and bottles of water, including a large glovebox, a cubbyhole in front
of the gear lever and deep door pockets.

of the gear lever, so you don't really have a designated space for your phone, while your wallet can sit in the recess under the handbrake.
For knick - knacks, the Verna does better as the area ahead
of the gear lever is clear and flat to drop your wallet / cellphone into, while the cupholders sit next to the handbrake.

of the gear lever is too deep and isn't really the most ergonomic when it comes to usage.

gearing, you can just slot the
lever between third and fourth and summon enough urge for any occasion.
