At a certain point in the gratitude practice, the essence
of gracious living becomes inherent and abundant, so much so, that the only way to proceed is by sharing and giving back.

of the local hospital, the ambulance that got me there before I died from blood loss, the image
of God in the paramedics that made them give their
lives to rescuing people they've never met, the wisdom
of the surgeon, the intelligence and skill
of the thousands
of individuals whose discoveries have made operating theatres and anaesthesia possible — all
of these are
gracious gifts
of a loving God, whose mercy enables healings to take place across the world that would, in any other generation, be considered quite miraculous.

gracious and good human beings.
Now that we know something
of these other religious communities and their quality
of the
lives they engender, we can not suppose that a
gracious God would punish their saints for failure to join the Christian church.
The biblical answer to this problem is to first
of all recognize that we have the
gracious and loving forgiveness
of God, but then to admit to God that we have actually messed up our
lives by failing to
live according to His instructions, and then seeking to take steps and make changes which allow us to
live according to God's will.
Finally, play can keep that
gracious «ground - base
of joy» alive in all
of us, and so prepare us for, and help sustain us within, our ongoing
life of faith.
It is rather that in the incarnation
of the Word
of God humanity has been taken into unity with God; human
life has been sanctified; and a way has been opened for all men in every century and in all circumstances to enter into their right relationship to the Creator (the relationship
of sons to their Father) through God's
gracious approach to them in Christ and the response
of trust and obedience which God in Christ evokes from them.

It is difficult to know how to categorize the suffering
of these infants whose deaths come in the wake
of God's
gracious intervention
of the
life of Jesus.
This has all sorts
of implications for how we think and act and
live, yet is much more vulnerable, more
gracious and grateful than what our religions generally deliver.
The scriptural witness
of the prophecies should be enough as a basis for faith; Mary did not find the Lord through her quest for his body, but only through answering his personal call to her; she must not cling to his bodily presence, for his
life is now on another plane, with the Father who is the Father
of all those who follow Jesus because he is his Father who has raised him from the dead; Thomas is offered sight and touch, as a
gracious concession to his lack
of faith; but he does not believe because
of this, but because the risen Lord addresses him; and the happiness
of those who have faith without sight is greater.
Prayer for the Day: «O God, whose glory it is always to have mercy: Be
gracious to all who have gone astray from your ways, and bring them again with penitent hearts and steadfast faith to embrace and hold fast the unchangeable truth
of your Word, Jesus Christ your Son; who with you and the Holy Spirit
lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever.

But for those who believe in God's
gracious plan for their
life — even in the midst
of pain and confusion, there is always hope.
What the New Testament does do is to portray the
gracious message
of an open access to that same God whose depth
of accepting love is seen on a cross and whose presence in the
life of that crucified one is designed to call forth from us the same awe, reverence, and obedience to those rules
of life through which we find the fullness
of life, the depth
of love, and the meaning
of our own humanity.
We may prepare for our next section, then, by affirming that, for Christian faith, by the prevenient Action
of God a human
life was taken and made into the instrument for the
gracious divine operation; in more traditional idiom, the eternal Word, Self - Expression
of very God, was clothed with a true humanity, crowning the rest
of God's work in and for God's human children.
The content
of revelation is a promise which, because it has never yet been completely fulfilled, can never be fixed or finished, but remains incalculable and to some extent mysteriously incomprehensible And the reception
of this revelation means that we experience a
gracious, extravagant, and surprising future dawning at the frontiers
of our own

These qualities and conditions, which constitute the materials and contexts with which and in which the exemplifications
of relational power must fulfill their ambiguous destinies, run the gamut from triumphant breakthroughs to crippling regressions, from
life - restoring laughter to
life - denying despair, from the beauty
of the
gracious heart to the debasing cruelty
of the small mind and smaller soul.

The very heart
of the gospel is that the
life and death
of Jesus reveal the unconditional,
gracious love
of God.
I have found the vast majority
of Jewish people I have engaged with over my
life to be amazing and
gracious people.
However, when such a reality moves from individual and community
life to a nation as a whole, a number
of engagements
of the USA in the world arena are not perceived as benevolent and
gracious.
Because
of these acts we know him to be real, accessible, and infinitely
gracious, and in that knowledge we find the promise
of both the coming
of his kingdom and the ultimate fulfillment
of our own
lives: «Through the tender mercy

of peace.»
They were
living transcripts
of how a
gracious God dealt and deals with his erring and unfaithful children.
At the heart
of this difficult doctrine is the proclamation that our
lives and our deaths are in God's hand; we are loved
of God not by our own merit but by God's
gracious initiative toward us We need not spend our
lives in good works in order to be saved but only in grateful response to being so loved.
It is
gracious and true to give dignity to each other, to love each other through the mundane details
of a
life.
The National Association
of Evangelicals (NAE) regrets the ruling but «calls on evangelicals to be
gracious and compassionate to those who do not share their views on marriage and to also advocate for liberty for all who desire to
live out their faith.»
Christ is «being formed in us» as we enter fully into our humanity through the
gracious action
of God, who has broken through our old and estranged ways and established the foundations
of the new
life.
Learning to
live a sober
life, in a dignified and

of middle age, or for the
gracious acceptance
of the closing phases
of earthly
life.
But we can probably move toward a more
gracious stance than we currently
live, and seek to reveal some
of God's grace to this world.
The survival
of the church as the people
of God depends on its incarnation
of a
gracious,
living and forgiving God.
This means that no pastoral care can be complete which does not assume a form including a call to renewed discipleship to those capable
of actively witnessing to the Kingdom
of God in their own
lives, as well as a call to affirm respectfully the incapacitated as themselves signs
of God's
gracious presence and identification with those deemed hopeless in the world's sight.
