The latest High Fliers report, which surveys the top graduate employers in the UK, has revealed that three quarters
of the graduate vacancies at investment banks are filled by those who have already completed an internship or some form of work experience with the company.
This represents a rise compared with 2014/15, when 45.9 %
of graduate vacancies on offer were in London.
Other areas where there were falls in the proportion
of graduate vacancies include the south west (6.2 % to 1.4 %), Wales (2.3 % to 1.3 %), the north west (6.2 % to 2.6 %) and the north east (3.8 % to 1.9 %).
Internships have become a staple feature of graduate CVs: 36 %
of graduate vacancies for leading employers in 2013 will be filled by applicants who've already worked for an organisation as an undergraduate.
Unsurprisingly, London remains the best place for recent grads to head — with the capital boasting the highest density
of graduate vacancies, closely followed by Manchester and Birmingham.
