After adjusting a few of the plethora
of graphics options available, I had both mouse / keyboard and an Xbox 360 controller plugged in and ready to test some gameplay.
A
variety of graphics options allow players to tweak the experience so that it can run at 60 FPS, which is obviously the best way to enjoy the game.
The mobile version also includes a full
suite of graphics options, such as the ability to turn off the post-processing effects, tweak the rendering resolution and adjust the gamma.
Mostly this is a great port, with plenty of PC specific customisation options, including the ability to rebind keyboard controls (although, unfortunately, not control pad buttons,) and a
plethora of graphics options that do work.
On my 5 year old computer, the original Dishonored game plays perfectly smooth motion graphics, but Dishonored 2's motion graphics are very jaggy, so I'm a little disappointed (
none of the graphics options make it any better).
If this selection
of graphics options sounds familiar to you, that feeling is no surprise: with the exception of the missing anisotropic filtering, it's the same selection as that offered by my GeDoSaTo plugin.
The difference between the memory that you'll be taking up if you use the Gears of War 4 pre-load opportunity is likely due to the increased
number of graphic options that will be available on the PC, especially with the better processing power and technology that the PC has even over the Xbox One and Xbox One S.
With the PC version, the game will have an unlocked framerate, 4k support, a
slew of graphics options, and full mouse and keyboard support.
If you've played other Frostbite Engine games, such as Battlefield 1 and Mirror's Edge Catalyst, you'll know that titles built on DICE and EA's engine run well and feature a good
range of graphics options.
The PC edition of FINAL FANTASY XV features a huge
suite of graphics options that can be configured to increase or decrease fidelity beyond the levels seen on consoles.
