Unfortunately, since the President of the United States decided to interject, repeatedly, this terrible idea into the national discourse, it has become a part of the debate on what teachers ought to do in the face
of gun violence in schools.
When I was a student in New York City schools, there was no threat
of gun violence in schools.
I say to our lawmakers: If you can't do something about this disgraceful scourge
of gun violence in our schools and across our country, you should not hold public office.
