of having a water birth, you should discuss this with your midwife.
Another advantage offered by choosing a birth center is that many of these centers offer the option
of having a water birth.
I read articles on what to expect when birthing at home, the process
of having a water birth and looked up tons of different styles of birth session photography.

of socially responsible services, including access to clean
water, glasses and eye treatment, safe
birth services, and even bullying prevention programs.

had hoped, labored in bed on my back because they couldn't monitor the babies if I moved,
had to
have pitocin and later an epidural (I could stand the pitocin, it was the fact that no one does a breach delivery any more that, just in case Twin B didn't turn after Twin A was born), puking in the operating room because I couldn't even
have a single drop
of water on my tongue while laboring strapped down (talk about understanding what hell is like!)
Most moms do what «sbest for their kids.And yes, there are women out there who legitimately can not bf, so formula is a WONDERFUL choice for them.I exclusively bf both
of mine, but think it's okay to ff if you don't
have enough milk.there are other situations where i think it's selfish.As for drugs during pregnancy and
birth, I
had to take 3 doses
of medication while pregnant so that I could eat.my morning sickness was so bad I couldn't even keep
water down.I made the choice to do that so I didn't starve my unborn child, but I only took what was neccessary to keep something down, and then
had no other drugs and plan not to until my son is done bf.And as for the «natural» baby, carcinogens are EVERYWHERE, even in your organic food.in this industrialized world you can not get away from them, and to attack other moms for their choices is a sad statement
of your morality and on how your child's persoality is going to turn out.also,
having multiple kids is definately more demanding than one.
It is important to ask about the availability
of the
water birth at the hospital you are planning to go to and to ask any questions about giving
birth in
water; you may find it useful to find out how many women choose to
have water births at the hospital, how many staff are trained to deal with
water births and find out about the potential risks
of giving
birth in the
water.
If for some reason the labour does not go according to plan you may
have to get out
of the
water and give
birth normally; this can be disruptive and it may cause concern and confusion.
Research
has suggested that
water births are as safe as normal
births when carried out on healthy mothers; doctors and midwives will decide if a
water birth is a safe and wise option based on the health
of the mother and the positioning and health
of the baby.
Some women may be put off by the idea
of the midwife
having to clean the pool and use a sieve to get rid
of any excretions; however, this should not be a reason to go against the idea
of a
water birth as midwives are used to this and it is very common.
If you are
having a home
water birth, you need to take some practical considerations into account; for example, you need to think about the space you
have available for the pool and make sure you
have a floor which is solid enough to take the weight
of the pool when it is filled with
water.
Her
water birth at the
birth center was so incredible that I realized I
had to be a part
of the
birth world for the rest
of my life!

- Control: Choosing a
water birth can give you the feeling
of having more control over your
birth plan and labor.
I am not aware
of any birthing facility that offers fresh, healthy, organic food and filtered
water, but if there is one, I suspect it's a
birth center or rather, one that allows you to bring your own food just as one
would provide in their own home
birth.
- Pain relief and mobility: The warm
water in which a
water birth occurs can
have several positive effects on the delivery experience
of some expecting mothers.
Even
birth centers and hospitals are now encouraging women to spend some time laboring in bath tubs due to the soothing effects the deep
water has on some
of the pain
of contractions.
Colostrum changes into mature milk within one week
of birth, which
has the perfect amount
of protein,
water, fat, sugar and nutrients for your baby's optimum health and growth.
Since
birth, I
had gotten into the habit, in stead
of using wipes when we were at the hotel or home, I
would plunk him into the sink (following a wet or poopy diaper) with Luke warm
water and he
would always pee.
A good example
would be breaking your bag
of waters and wedging your baby in a position that makes a vaginal
birth more difficult or impossible, like a posterior baby.
Doing your research on the various types
of pain relief and facilities offered by your hospital is also really important (there's no point in writing that you want a
water birth if the hospital you will be using
has no tub or
birth pool on offer!).
Her «Help» when I came home from hospital was to take the baby and give it
water during the night, which was something i
would never
have done during later
births, where I was one
of the people in the maternity ward who always asked to be woken if baby cried!
(Though it should be noted that every facility
has a different set
of rules as to who can use the
water birth tubs and how long.)
Because
of the ability to relax and to
have a gentle second stage, pushing, most mothers who
have a
water birth have fewer tears and require fewer stitches than their counterparts who give
birth outside
of a tub.
This past week I
had the good fortune to attend a beautiful home VBAC in the hostile
birth world
of Santa Barbara and an inspirational
water birth in Beverly Hills.
Now why
would you even think to put that little anecdote in your story if you weren't so very proud
of shocking some poor old guy
watering his lawn with your
birth performance?
Her inspiration
had come from the work
of a Russian, Dr Igor Charkovsky, who in the 1970's
had organised dolphin - assisted
births in the Black Sea and felt that the common evolutionary origins
of humans and dolphins in
water explained a natural affinity.
I was also tested for GBstrep and if it came back positive I
would have been given antibiotics during labor (at home), she also
would not offer a
water birth if there was any sign
of meconium once my
waters broke.
