A survey out of Alfred University tells us that 48 percent
of high school students say they have been hazed — 48 percent!
Half
of high school students say they've bullied someone in the past year, and nearly half say they've been the victim of bullying, according to a national study.
A recent survey by researchers at Alfred University revealed that about 23 percent
of high school students said they used illicit substances such as alcohol in initiations, and three years ago, a young high school student nearly died in a Santa Fe hazing tradition.
Eleven percent
of high school students said they had all of these resources at school, 20 percent said they have none of these resources, and the rest said they had some but not all three.
Another survey
of high school students said learning about money management was very important and 80 % wanted to learn more.
In 2015, it found that 5.6 %
of high school students said they did not go to school because they «felt unsafe at school or on the way to school» on at least 1 day during the 30 days before the survey.
According to the 2012 fact sheet from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, «Understanding Teen Dating Violence,» around 9 percent
of high school students said they were slapped, hit or physically harmed by a girlfriend or boyfriend in the past 12 months.
According to statistics compiled by child advocacy organization Rhode Island Kids Count, 26 %
of high school students said they had consumed alcohol within the last 30 days during the 2015 - 16 school year and 13 % admitted to binge drinking.
