It seems that not too long ago there were only a few deviating factors between
yoga practices: It was either a
hot room (Bikram), a flow
of fluid intense movement (Astanga / Vinyasa), a variety
of props to ensure proper alignment (Iyengar) or
classes using passive poses...

If you've ever loitered at the door
of a
hot yoga studio, you could be forgiven for thinking the
class burned as many calories as a camel crossing the Sahara.

In the last year or so I discovered The Studio in Adams Morgan and while I'm a fan
of all the
classes I've taken there, I am somewhat partial to the 6 am

hot yoga class on those brisk mornings or completing a quick weight training session, I find that if I wait until the end
of the day to hit the gym, I'm often too tired, both mentally and physically.
For me, I feel best when I feel like I'm connecting in my relationships (family, friends, etc.) am eating well, taking care
of myself with self - care, and am finding the time to work out at least a few times a week (which for me is usually a
hot yoga class or walking since I'm not the greatest when it comes to high endurance work outs) Between work and not feeling like I have enough time, I've been really running my well pretty low — so I'm trying to figure out better ways in the coming weeks to start feeling more fulfilled, and a little less like just a functioning shell
of myself.
My perfect Saturday would consist
of coffee in bed, a
hot yoga class, a trip to the flowers mart, brunch, afternoon reading and champagne in the park, dinner with friends, and Netflix at home.
