I've neer personally had a Mediterranean style pizza, but to take classic ingredients that blend seamlessly together and incorporate beet
hummus, «chicken» and fresh avocado turned out to be one
of my fave recipes
for healthy pizzas!
For all
of us who love to eat
hummus and prefer it to other food dips, baba ghanoush is one
of those Mediterranean spreads that are healthy and encourage raw food because it tastes great on fresh vegies.
The flavor
of the different varieties
of hummus is fantastic and perfect
for dipping up with carrots or celery as an afternoon snack!
Deconstructed
Hummus Salad 1 garlic clove, minced 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 3 tablespoons tahini 1 - 2 tablespoon lemon juice (start with a tablespoon, add more to taste if needed) 1 tablespoon water salt, to taste 1 15 - oz can chickpeas, rinsed and drained 5 oz package
of mixed greens (note: I also had about 2 cups
of leftover red kale and used that as well) 2 tablespoons fresh dill, chopped sumac or paprika (optional,
for garnishing)
Sorry to say that we didn't care
for the taste
of the
hummus, it was «not bad», but we wouldn't buy this brand again, though we appreciated that the shelf - stable packaging which would be great
for travel.
I make white bean dips all
of the time, but never tried
hummus for some reason.
Tasty Bite Pad Thai: Like the
hummus, we appreciated that these noodles are shelf - stable, lightweight and good
for travel, but we didn't love the flavour
of the sauce.
I think I set my expectations too high, and I hoped
for an exact replica
of chocolate chip cookie dough that I could eat by the bowlful, instead
of chocolate chip
hummus.
I love arugula, whipped feta and pickled beet sandwiches, adding jarred beets to homemade
hummus and adding a few drops
of beet liquid to lemonade
for a delicious take on pink lemonade.
Same goes
for beans — chickpeas, white beans, kidney beans, black beans — there's always a chance I want to throw together a quick lentil chili or a batch
of homemade
hummus, so I can always count on them being in my pantry.
I made this paleo potato
hummus for a family gathering a couple
of weeks ago and told everyone that it was
hummus with a bit
of a twist.
I also made your new
hummus today with some veggie fajitas - all
of this on the menu
for Monday.
For appetizers, I served my Italian Layer Dip with toasted baguette, Hearts
of Palm Salad in a cup, and
Hummus and Crudite in a cup.
Serve with pita bread and
hummus or vegan Tzatziki sauce
for a hearty Mediterranean - inspired meal.One
