The memorandum of understanding between the Court and the Ministry, first signed in 1993, transferred to the Chief Justice's office both the budget and responsibility for the content
of judicial education for judges and justices of the peace.
The influx of SRLs into the courts has implications for the criteria for judicial appointments, the form and
content of judicial education (at (8)-RRB- and some procedural issues in the courtroom.

In the US, the AVI has been putting up a number of [indecipherable 0:37:24] orders, and there is considerable
amount of judicial education going on [indecipherable 0:37:28] resources available to judges so that people have resources to draw on.
There are judges who are doing a sterling job of trying to figure out how to retool their role and function to deal with self reps (and without much in the
way of judicial education or support).
This approach of judge - led and judging - focused education recognizes two important
dimensions of judicial education: the need to ensure that programs are relevant and responsive to judicial experience, and the need to preserve judicial independence.
The involvement of a Senior Advisor in the conception, design, development and presentation of programs has been critical to the
evolution of judicial education within the Court.
She is a leader in the judicial community, particularly in the
areas of judicial education, diversity and inclusion, and wellness, so we excitedly anticipate her many contributions to the commission.
