Other examples are the broad US

of junior mining

of a possible discovery has led to spectacular price gains and market capitalisations that bear no resemblance to current reality.
It may be somewhat useful to make comparisons to that period
of time to see how certain interest rate sensitive asset classes such as
junk bonds, REITs, dividend - paying
stocks or bonds performed, but my guess is that particular environment doesn't do a great job
of showing investors what a typical rising rate scenario would look like (assuming there is such a thing).
The
junk bond bubble, in particular, stands in sharp and stark refutation
of whatever
stocks might be incorporating, especially if that might be based upon assumptions
of Yellen's re-found backbone.
Also,
stocks are volatile and generally the riskiest assets, with the possible exception
of credit default swaps, high - yield «
junk» bonds, and other similar assets.
The CNN Fear & Greed Index monitors seven market factors, including
stock price momentum,
stock price strength,
stock price breadth, put and call options,
junk bond demand, market volatility and safe haven demand, by calculating how far they have veered from their averages relative to how far they normally veer, on a scale

Put simply, this means that most
of the
stocks that have been rallying in recent days have been «
junk off the bottom» plays.

I have never been a fan
of junk bonds, in my opinion money allocated to
junk bonds should just be put into
stocks instead.
Indeed, the rest
of the world's central banks are purchasing assets (e.g., government debt, investment grade corporate bonds, higher - yielding
junk corporates,
stocks, etc.) with QE «funny money» in the hopes that it will boost economic growth.
What's more, just like the September - October pullback
of 2014, market internals have been deteriorating at a noteworthy pace, whether one is looking at waning breadth
of bullish
stock participation or widening credit spreads between investment grade and higher yielding corporates /
junk corporates.
So much so, many
of the hot /
junk stocks enjoyed significant rallies.
