Rather than convene a small panel to
review hundreds
of ideas, we use a system
of crowd - sourcing wherein many
jurors review a random subset
of proposals with each proposal generally receiving more than 30 ratings.
The scribes were there during the entire
juror review, helping the
jurors morning and afternoon, rearranging work during the
juror break, cleaning up and organizing things again at the end
of the day.

of the Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans.

The exhibition on display at EFA presents a selection
of several dozen
of the most striking submissions as selected by two
juror's
reviews in 2008 and 2009 as well as more recent projects that have been uploaded to the site.
Juror Helen Frederick, who is an internationally known artist with a wealth
of experience in the contemporary print world, carefully
reviewed the images and information submitted by each artist and noted, «It was a joy to discover artists in many points
of their careers submitting works with the inclusion
of passionate statements regarding their thematic concepts.»

jurors from nullifying,
jurors are not subject to legal sanction for nullifying, and verdicts that are the result
of nullification are not subject to

The American Bar Association in April
of this year issued Ethics Opinion 466 stating that a lawyer may passively
review a
juror or potential
juror's public presence on the Internet without violating Rule 3.5 (b) which prohibits ex parte communications with a
juror.
In U.S. v. Lawson, on the other hand, the federal Fourth Circuit addressed at length the reliability concerns presented by reliance on Wikipedia.32 The issue arose when, despite the trial court's explicit instruction not to conduct research on the internet or otherwise, a
juror reviewed, during deliberations, a Wikipedia definition
of an element
of the crime with which the defendant was charged.33 The
juror no longer had the original Wikipedia entry but obtained a printout two weeks later in anticipation
of his appearance before the court on complaints
of juror misconduct.
Once a prospective
juror has identified him / herself as wanting an accommodation, the jury office
reviews the request and provides such reasonable accommodation as will satisfy the need
of the individual.
However, a discussion
of capital voir dire must begin with a
review of the general communication and comprehension gaps between
jurors and legal professionals.
