Dr Fung, From your experience what do you think raises more the
risk of ketoacidosis in type one diabetes adults?
Signs
of ketoacidosis in cats include, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, dehydration and rapid shallow breathing.
The best way to explain ketosis is to consider it a very mild
form of ketoacidosis, and the truth is that this is not going to be harmful most of the time.
In late 2015, there was a new requirement that imposed new warning labels of Invokana and similar diabetes drugs warning patients to discontinue use if they experienced
signs of ketoacidosis.
What do you think are the chances of me reaching a state
of ketoacidosis if I don't eat carbs (I eat a very strict and healthy diet of vegetables fats and proteins) and don't take insulin?
Another side
effect of ketoacidosis, if your pet's diabetes has escalated to this point before it's been recognized, is vomiting.

In general, younger (and prepubertal) children require lower doses while the
presence of ketoacidosis, use of steroids, and the hormonal changes of puberty all dictate higher doses.
Thus, poor adherence to insulin treatment (21), and specifically missing shots (22), might contribute to poor metabolic control and
episodes of ketoacidosis.
The only individuals who have risk with BHB would be uncontrolled diabetics as they risk going into a
state of ketoacidosis.
It is thought that high levels of ketones in the blood may increase the
risk of ketoacidosis, a very serious condition that can occur in type 1 diabetics.
Note that in the case
