With that sort
of activity, I
know my body has a big need to start my day with
protein.
Since I
knew they have been following a Zone / Atkins - like diet consisting primarily
of protein and vegetables, I wanted to make a
protein - based appetizer.
Sorghum lacks gluten - certain
proteins present in wheat and two closely related cereals, rye and barley - and is therefore considered safe for the millions
of people with coeliac disease, also

As it is
known to all (also me) that lentils are a source
of protein for vegetarian, so it is very healthy and will give you the energy to live a bright & energetic day.
While runners, cyclists, and other endurance athletes have long
known that eating carbohydrates during and immediately preceding hard efforts helps to replenish energy - providing glycogen stores, newer research shows that combining these carbohydrates with a wallop
of protein nearly doubles the insulin response — meaning even more energy can be stored in the body along with all the muscle - making perks.
You can pretty much always feel good about eating a
protein rich salad like this when you are hungry and don't want to sabotage all
of your efforts at the gym (if you
know what I mean!).
Now you all
know I'm not one
of those people that stuffs a boatload
of protein powder in my oats and cereal and granola and here and there and everywhere, but I do appreciate a quality plant - based option to occasionally boost the
