I would LOVE one
of the lidded baskets.
I have at least a couple
of lidded baskets and several similar storage opportunities already, but they are full of stuff we rarely need to access and are keeping just in case — like papers we probably won't need but might, photos, knick - knack keepsakes, etc..
And come to think of it, I do have a couple
of lidded baskets just holding some blankets and books right now.

A network
of little pathways through the rubbish are made, moving coconuts and old rusty paint cans out
of the way so the wheelbarrow can transport one
basket at a time to a pile at the back
of the dump, glass crushing facilities, a modest concrete building with one room for shade for equipment and a small tarped area to sit and shell the
lids off in a little bit
of shade!
A beautiful large

of the credenza will also help with dirty laundry and you won't have to see it!
For storage on your shelves you could use
baskets lined with a coordinating fabric color / print to your kitchen accent colors or plastic bins with
lids (unhinged... so you can open them from either side
of the island) or metal wire
baskets that make it easy to see what is inside... your choice would come from how much you want to show what is stored on the shelves.
Use dead space under side tables for
lidded baskets to contain anything from magazines to out
of season decorations!

Lidded baskets are attractive, transportable and hide a multitude
of sins.
The idea is to attach a
basket to the bottom
of a drying rack with twine or fishing wire — creative and useful little
lid rack, if I don't say so myself.
