I spent a lot
of time in our
local library pulling out microfilm & microfiche and looking up stocks, bonds, indexes, cost
of living /
govt info, real estate, etc information from ~ 1900 until (then) recent times in the wall street journal (this was pre internet — what took many weeks then now just takes a few minutes, but the Lotus 1 -2-3 spreadsheet program was very helpful in doing the analysis) and then analyzed the results and concluded that the «only» investment strategy that made any sense was 100 % stock (absolutely the best return over time); but... there was that pesky thing called recessions, depressions, stock market corrections etc..
How much spare time each week do you have to read all the relevant credible published science papers already available for years, and read existing reports by
govt / science / economic / agri bodies on the subject matters, and read the state
of current research / know how
of existing anecdotal narrow focused regional /
local analysis and the opinions
of experts in their particular field... and then deeply think about all that and come to a rational and reasonable conclusion on it all?
So surely the need is for a parallel
Govt backed domestc / small business roll out
of energy systems organised on a
local scale by those with a interest in the envirnment.
I do nt see as to how you can make a switch away from the big energy companies without the counterwight - at first -
of govt at either
local or national level.
If, for example, some money from carbon credit markets is passed to
local governments to administer and certain enterprising
local governments find ways through legislation to spend it on carbon credits (because that option offers the best e-CO2 reduction / $) then the money passes back to the Federal
govt and the pool
of carbon credits shrinks.
