those of you making nut milk for the first time, because of a story you saw of mine that lead you to reach out to me to learn more.

I was thinking
of buying a soyabella machine to
make nut milk to save the time and hassle as i lead a pretty busy working life.
I have read about blending it but I am
making a small portion for one person (one tablespoon
of nut butter to a cup
of soy or almond
milk).
Well recently, in the middle
of a daydream, I got an idea for
making a soup that would have
nut milk for its base.
Made same as almond
milk, just 4 hours soaking the
nuts instead
of 8 though.
i had to
make made them non-dairy (using a unsweetened
nut milk in place
of the
milk + yogurt for a total
of 156g) and used my AP flour.
This
makes it a denser form
of protein than
milk, soybeans and most seeds and
nuts!

I regularly

milk and other
nut milks at home and I can assure you all you need are almonds (activated is my preference), water, a pinch
of salt and maybe a sweetener like dates, honey, maple syrup, rice malt syrup or stevia if you feel like it.

Another way to enjoy turmeric is an ancient recipe called «golden
milk,» which is a turmeric tea
made from warm homemade

milk, cinnamon, ginger, raw honey, and,
of course, turmeric.
My son also
makes a fabulous shampoo out
of 1/3 cup Dr. Bronners liquid soap, 1/4 c. coconut
milk, and 1 tsp
nut oil (he uses walnut).
Cassie's Tip: There are so many ways that you could adapt this to
make it your own: use
milk chocolate or white chocolate chips in addition to or instead
of the butterscotch; use Rice Krispy's Cereal instead
of oatmeal (or any
of your favorite cereals); add chocolate chips to the crust mixture; add peanuts to the crust mixture; sprinkle
nuts, chocolate chips, or drizzle caramel or chocolate sauce over the caramel mixture... see what I mean?
It is

milk.
I've always been a huge advocate
of making your own
nut milk or dairy free
milk because you're in control and your not taking in all those fillers and preservatives that can be really harsh on your little one.

of their spreadable
nut milk ricotta inspired me to

The
milk makes a great base for smoothies, soups, and curries; the oil is a great source
of saturated fat that stands up well to heat; the water beats commercial sports drinks with its impressive electrolyte content; the
nut itself can be used as a projectile weapon.
I
made my most recent batch using a
nut milk bag (a bag
made of super fine mesh).
Plus, it's less expensive to
make than
nut milks, lower in calories, and has tons
of fiber and potassium.
Soak the tiger
nut in plenty
of water the night before you are planning to
make the
milk (they need to soak for at least 8 hours).
I have to admit I don't tend to
make my own
nut milk, most
of the times I take the lazy route and just go for the shop bought ones.
Being one
of the softer more pliable
nuts, cashews, when blended with water,
make a rich, creamy
milk that resembles full fat cow's
milk.

Filling: Add enough
milk to your
nut butter to
make a consistency similar to that
of the brownie mix.
When I
make these chewy, they stay nice and moist without needing a glaze or frosting but if you want to glaze the top you can
make another 1/2 recipe
of the
nut butter /
milk recipe to go on top.

made nut milks (I got the matcha latte with almond
milk which was steamed to a pillowy perfection), zucchini noodle pad thai, chia pudding, raw bagels, etc..
It's seems that a slab
of homemade bread
made with flour milled on the premises, spread with locally produced raw
milk butter or organic
nut paste, isn't out
of line.
The second joy
of using any
nut milk made by Silk is that it's always loaded with nutrients, calcium and essential vitamins, meaning that combined with the pumpkin, you're doing your body a whole lot
of good while enjoying a whole lot
of yummy baked pumpkin mac and cheese.
I
made two batches
of milk (different combination
of nuts this time) but once I got on the second batch I got the brilliant idea to
make a cacao (duh add chocolate) version.
I mixed everything in my Ninja food processor w / the dough paddle, used dehydrated almond
nut pulp (left from
making almond
milk) for the flour, honey instead
of agave, regular mini chocolate chips, and I also put in 2 really ripe bananas.
I used to be a big fan
of their coconut
milk, but I am not so mad on all the added sugar, I prefer to
make my own

made cashew
milk (probably ever other kind
of nut milk but cashew!)
As it turns out, almond
milk is only
made up
of about 2 %
of real almonds, therefore lacking most
of the healthy fat, protein, vitamins, and minerals you get from eating the
nuts in their solid form.
You can also add 1/2 cup
of water,
nut milk, or coconut
milk to
make a more moist muffin.
