But a recent study published in Developmental Psychology finds that maternal depression is actually most common among
mothers of middle school children as they catapult into the tween years.
Program Overview «I Don't Want to Choose» is a newly developed school - based curriculum for
groups of middle school children whose parents are separated or divorced.
When considering disturbances in mothers» own adjustment, the study showed «an inverted V shape in feelings of stress and depression, with
mothers of middle school children (aged 12 to 14 years) consistently faring the most poorly and mothers of infants and adult children doing the best,» Luthar said.
