The game isn't really that difficult if you just play on the normal difficulty setting while you have the option
of multiple difficulty settings, there isn't much of a replay value.

There's a good deal
of replayablity here, too, with
multiple endings and
difficulty settings, along with a final
set of stages that will challenge even the most hardened action game veterans.
Even though the game presents you
multiple difficulty options, it is recommend to start with the Normal or High
difficulty settings in order to get the best out
of the game.
Still, that repetitiveness is a price worth paying for the tremendous amount
of content to be found here with the aforementioned
multiple difficulty settings and character classes, along with a full slate
of side missions that open up as you progress.
It's like knowing the system
of a game well enough, because you've played on
multiple difficulty settings and can tell that the AIs are behaving differently, that your health doesn't regenerate as fast, or whatever!
As always with the ACA NEOGEO games, you can expect a faithfully reproduced version
of the game with
multiple difficulty settings and leaderboards to compete against players around the world.
There are
multiple downloadable content packs available comprising
of a free costume and a couple
of free optional boosts, additional quests each consisting
of 5 missions on varying
difficulty levels for # 0.79 each, an additional map consisting
of 5 missions for # 3.29 and 9 costumes for # 0.79 each or a costume
set for # 4.99, while there are also some optional boosts for improving statistics and levelling up which mostly cost between # 0.39 to # 0.79 each other than simultaneously levelling up every team member by 3 levels which costs # 2.49, although it is important to note that such optional boosts can be completely earned in - game without any additional purchases and do not require long grinds in order to earn them.
While there are
multiple difficulty settings, to make the monsters move more quickly to start or add more colours
of wizards, it would have been nice for some variety in gameplay.
There are a number
of missions in the campaign that demand you to manage
multiple fronts in increasingly fraught situations and right up to the final level this was a problem for me, one that only got worse on the higher
difficulty settings.
In other words, the
difficulty curve in Polar Panic is steep; in later levels it becomes almost impossible to earn an A rating without
multiple attempts, even on the easiest
setting, all because
of the timer.
