This mishmash of Hitchcock and noir and the true story of a grisly murder is an incoherent mess, both in terms
of a nonsensical plot, absurd, motiveless characters and a visual style that's a nonsensical collection of shots from other, better movies.

of chemistry between the lead characters and Dornan's struggle to connect with an egregious script overwhelms any attempts by the film's design to compensate for its

of the same problems as its predecessor, not the least

of inept moviemaking — inane, non-sequitur-filled dialogue, hilariously melodramatic acting, gratuitous sex, and a

Ultimately, Shadow
of War «s
plot is a bombastic tale and slightly
nonsensical.
It rejects the melancholic and introspective tone
of Hotline Miami to U-turn it into an unashamed and relentless rejoice
of blood and gore, adorned with snarky and inappropriate one - liners, and blatantly
