Banana and
nut butter are not only great together, but are also one
of my favorite combos,
because, well, peanut
butter is heavenly in my eyes.
Making
nut butters at home is really rewarding,
because they taste so much better than store bought ones, are usually cheaper, and you can enjoy the cleanest
nut butter ever with just the
nut (and optionally coconut sugar and sea salt) as the only ingredient, instead
of a bunch
of chemicals and random ingredients that aren't necessary.
Because of the addition
of the
nut butter I added a little more almond milk to keep the batter from being too thick.
Because they're so nutritious all by themselves, I don't add any type
of oil to any homemade
nut butters.
This is
because of the fiber and the fats in
nut butters.
I often need to eat with a slice
of cheese, a yogurt, or a scoop
of nut butter though
because an apple alone doesn't fill me up quite as well.
This time I used almond
butter instead
of cashew for the cookie dough,
because that's what we had, but go with any
nut butter you like best!
I ate these flourless brownies for breakfast the other day and did not even blink
because when food is rich in nutrients, plant based and natural it should not matter at all what time

You can use any
nut butter you'd like in place
of it, I prefer coconut
because the flavor doesn't overwhelm the shake - but I'd imagine almond or cashew to be tasty too!
To make each treat take two pretzels — I use the Snyder's snaps
because the square shape is easier to work with — place a small dollop
of nut butter between them, and lightly press together.
These are super satisfying so you only need two or three and
because of the
nut butter actually contain a bit
of protein.
I think it'd be best to just soak the
nuts before grinding them,
because cashew
butter wouldn't exactly do the trick for either one
of these, it's just too wet and greasy.

of the sweetness, I've managed to eat 4 small cookies quite happily.
I topped mine with fresh blueberries, coconut flakes and granola and then later added a blob
of nut butter,

I've been testing out the new drinking oats by Rude Health, and
because they are super fine and flaky, they blend effortlessly into smoothies thickening them up without the need for extra banana or
nut butter... not that there is anything wrong with either
of those ingredients, it's just that sometimes you don't want hugely bananary smoothie and sometimes you want a few extra carbs over fats.
Because of the
nut allergies we can not use the almond
butter.
My only words
of caution would be that it probably presents the same challenges as
nut butter and coconut
butter: it's very calorie dense and there's a possibiliyy
of overeating it
because it's so deliciously satisfying.

Or you could try omitting the
nut flour and just using 1 cup
of coconut flour, but you'll also have to increase the amount
of nut butter / tahini,
because coconut flour tends to be dry and crumbly on its own.

Because nuts and seeds have so many health promoting related studies, Dr. Greger does recommend a single serving
of nuts a day in his Daily Dozen — no more than 1/4 cup whole seeds or 1 / 8th cup / 2 tablespoons
nut butter.
