While I had no problem wrapping my mind around the

based modes on display in Splatoon, I can see this game being unappealing to the typical shooter fan who sucks at understanding how to play this kind
of game type.

of each scenario gives you and your partner (if you have one) an

The saving part
of it though is the

of the single - player open world in an

based competitive setting.

of now, there are three game
modes: Capture, which sees two teams fighting over three
objective points, Meltdown, which tasks both teams to help their minions reach an enemy incinerator to score points, and Incursion, where teams try to destroy mechs at their opponents
base with the help
of AI units.
Opening and closing doors in particular can be almost completely ignored if you aren't playing an

based team game, since there's no real need to restrict the enemy team from an area
of a map in a deathmatch
mode.
Those looking for smart tactics in a less punishing context will be very well catered for in the controlled frenzy
of objective -
based modes like Control and Salvage.
The use
of microphones to communicate, the incredible variety
of quality maps, and a plethora
of objective -
based game
modes had us playing just about every night.
In the game's story

Truth be told, I'm not that good a shot, so

based modes like this one let me help the team and keep leveing up even if I'm nowhere near the top
of the K / D ratios.

based mode is split into several seamless phases and is unlike anything you've seen in past iterations
of the series, though other shooters have featured similar

modes it's also pretty standard fare: team deathmatch, an

of surviving as many waves as possible, this version
of zombies plays more like a story - driven mission than
modes of the past and it's integrated well into the gameplay despite how farfetched it becomes.
Survival is similar to Arena from Uncharted 3 and is a wave -
based mode where players — with up to two additional friends — take on swarms
of increasingly powerful enemies and unique
objectives.
The story
mode of WWE 2K14 is called 30 Years
of WrestleMania and is built upon the same
objective based match idea from the Attitude Era
mode from last year's which was just a lot
