We usually are big
fans of oil burners but in the case of the EcoSport the petrol motor is what really is the one to look out at.
Thanks to Dieselgate, the
chances of the oil burners making it over the Atlantic are virtually nil and the outlook for the range - topping gasoline W - 12 isn't great either, which leaves the PHEV and the two choices already offered in the U.S. A8: a supercharged 3.0 - liter V - 6 and a turbocharged 4.0 - liter V - 8.
On the road, the Equinox Diesel accelerates from stops with ease and there's plenty of sound deadening material to prevent the
sounds of the oil burner from entering the cabin.
However, its performance is outstanding given the diesel drivetrain, and it's your only option if you want the torque and fuel
economy of an oil burner, but the acceleration and dynamics of a gasoline vehicle.
The cabin is well insulated and NVH is good but give the motor the beans and you can hear a
hint of the oil burner.
There is some lag lower down and it's only post 2000 RPM that the diesel mill starts spinning with some eagerness, the mid-range being the best
part of this oil burner.
* Increase tax credits or direct funding for improving home insulation (the current «weatherization» program) and
replacement of oil burners with highly efficient electric technologies like geothermal heat pumps
Fans of oil burners can also rejoice in the new Octavia vRS for it is also available with a 184PS (135kW) 2.0 litre turbocharged diesel.
At start - up and idle, the clack - clack - clack from the rockers and the vibrations they send through the cabin very much resemble
that of an oil burner.
Or if you're a fan
of oil burners, there's also a 3 liter inline 6.
There's a 252 - horsepower 2.0 - liter turbo four and five available diesel engines ranging between 150 and 272 horse, though Audi hasn't announced if
any of those oil burners will come to the states.
