With time, the foundations
of oracy skills — discussion guidelines, discussion roles, and choosing the level of participation in structured talk tasks — build up a student's confidence around speaking.

At School 21, the combination
of teaching wellbeing,
oracy (speaking
skills), and project - based learning empowers students to create exceptional work that makes a real - world difference.
In secondary, they learn to speak in a variety
of settings and to a variety
of audiences, ranging from an informal speech in front
of classmates to a presentation for 50 potential employers (see Public Speaking:
Oracy Skills for the Real World).
At 12/13, each student takes a course in Spanish
oracy, which attempts to link the
skills of talk to a new context.

oracy framework: physical, linguistic, cognitive, and emotional — a range that helps them decide on tones
of voice or body language that will help them effectively communicate their message.
On Friday 30th June, the ESU is hosting a free international event to bring together teachers from around the world to consider a variety
of different ways in which education professionals can, and in some cases, already do, use
oracy - related
skills in classrooms and curriculums around the world.
