cartoon wasn't as good at pointing out certain ironies as some
of his
others are.

I have drawn plenty
of cartoons critiquing Mark Driscoll's view
of women, his theology, his abuses, his lame apologies, and
other issues.
He is a talented artist and his
cartoons speak volumes about the struggles
of other ex-Fundamentalists.
jerry... take a look at the whole situation from step one... I just addressed it on today's
cartoon site... David wrote a thank you to his commenters... Andrew comes in out
of left field railing against David... that was the first comment...
others tried to wish David happy new year etc. and Andrew comes back in with more junk.
Oh, I can see how the image represents them
OTHERS (bad guys
of all sort, proselytizing, self - promoting, — just follow one
of your threads down the line & see how we work to convince, convict: us the living dead) But I have to make an effort to identify with your bad guys in all your
cartoons — even as I know that's where the significance
of your «vision» lies.
But yeah, as you read the
cartoon, we have to think that some
of the things we say and think about
others, do NOT sound like Jesus.

Having a
cartoon that says anything
other than this is dishonest and shows the weakness
of the cartoonist's argument.

cartoon or make some snide criticism
of others» views, maybe you can recall what Jesus said about beams and motes.
the point
of the
cartoon was inspired by people on my
other site, http://davidhayward.ca who have been rejected by their families for leaving the church.
I think the point
of the
cartoon was that there is a belief among most Christians (Catholic and Protestant alike) that there is something special about Jesus the man that is
other - worldly and goes far beyond just a man with a good message — and if you «take in» Jesus then you get certain special privileges (like going to heaven).

A question for Timelesswheelman: Why is it that, unlike
other religious believers who are faced with images
of their prophets, gods, etc, Muslims appear to be the only religious group that goes absolutely bat - shaft crazy and murderous when someone, for example, publishes a
cartoon of the prophet?
Because only racism would explain why they are so willing to believe such tripe without a shred
of evidence
other than
cartoons fed to them by smarter people.
But since prayer is not purely for the self or for the church, but also for
others and for the needs
of the world, something in the
cartoon should suggest this relevance.
It seems to me that examples
of alcoholism, abuse, and
other types
of destructive behavior misses the mark in the
cartoon.
Put in
cartoon form, the image is this: a pastor standing slightly behind two
other Christians, with a hand on the shoulder
of each person.

of NP (not that he necessarily needs it)-- I don't see the

of faith and among many analysts
of religion.

It is a good view to have, because, as your
cartoon indicates, what we seem to get in our own heads is always something we have to do or something someone else should do, how someone else should conform to some thing that we are able to do, or expect
others to believe some kind
of non-sense that has popped into our heads.
Well... the implicit point
of this
cartoon is that we create the theologies that create the realities, not the
other way around.
