food, but because we wanted to share our life experiences, both good and bad, with
others.

of home cooks purchased at estate sales in Akron, Ohio, and

I've been hooked on
food blogs since I «discovered» them about a year ago — figures it would happen when I move to Japan and can't get a hold
of many
of the ingredients I see on your
blog and
others.
This all goes hand in hand with what keeps me writing this
blog — my love
of talking about
food with
other people, sharing ideas, and ultimately inspiring someone to cook!
I was hesitant to call these muffins health
food because, well, they're no kale salad, but I figured when compared to some
of the
other, erm, more elaborate recipes on this
blog, they might as well be a dang bushel
of broccoli.
Finding new recipes, reading about
food, health & nutrition, and finding great
food blogs written by creative, passionate people are some
of my favorite pastimes so I was thrilled when Green Thickies posted a list
of the their favorite
blogs — Some I already knew and
others I eagerly looked up.
Since the Synder's debacle, I have used my
blog to spread information about
other causes, including our building The World's Tallest Gluten Free Cake in 2011 as part
of our successful 1in133 mission to pressure the FDA to issue gluten free
food regulations (regulations finalized in 2014), and our Ditch Amber campaign to pressure the NFCA to remove their endorsement
of Domino's «gluten free» pizzas, as well as spreading facts and information about «gluten free» Cheerios, among
others.
I've shied away from this space lately for a variety
of reasons: a sense
of perfectionism that's creeping in due to my
other forms
of writing; being uninspired by the formula that
food blogs are falling prey to, getting duller and duller even as their photos and graphics get shinier and shinier (tell me, please, that you know what I mean?)
I've made lots
of your recipes and found
other food blogs through your links.
I know there are lots
of blogs and websites out there attempting to reproduce
other foods; for example, this site recreates restaurant meals; this one tries to recreate convenience
foods; this one converts elaborate omni meals into vegan ones; and so on.
Thank you for sharing your fears about the reactions
others might have when you tell them you have a
food blog — your entire thought process reminds me
of my own.
I feel like I haven't done much baking on the
blog as
of late, so when I saw that coconut pound cake was a popular
food offering on religious holidays in Cambodia, I was psyched for the opportunity to adapt a pound cake recipe from a gluten - free cookbook I just picked up the
other day.
This pudding recipe is a spin on a classic avocado chocolate pudding, and in putting this post together I realised I didn't actually have any
other form
of avocado pudding on this
blog - every vegan
food blogger has an avocado pudding!!
I force myself to eat three meals a day — in fact I start with oatmeal every morning and often I find myself looking at
food blogs and instagrams
of all these
other people eating exotic grain / nut / fruit combos for breakfast and thinking I should be more healthy like them!!
The recipes I create for the
blog have been predominantly plant - based and made from whole
foods simply because those are the types
of recipes that I feel most inspired to create and share with
others.
Oh and by the way: I think it is amazing that you had the guts to become a part
of our quite female
food blog community and I hope that you inspire
other like - minded gentlemen to join in!
Some
of them are from my site (primarily in the main dish category, as I like to come up with creative vegetarian main dishes), but most are from
other great
food blogs.
Food bloggers love sharing recipes and I am no exception — I have made tons
of recipes from
other blogs and it's a huge pleasure for me when people try the recipes I post here.
I would love to make all
of the delicious dishes that I see on
other food blogs and all over Pinterest, but that is just not practical, let alone possible... so I thought I would post some
of my favorite healthy twists on the classic holiday dishes — which is exactly what this post is.
As a non-blogging
food blog fan (say that ten times fast), I must admit I am very impressed with the respect and support within your community... the sharing
of recipes, the nods to
other blogs / bloggers, the enthusiastic comments
of recipes, etc..
So, with my love for cooking, organic produce, and whole
